LEARN TO FLY SOLO!

If your tandem skydiving experience just got you wanting more, Skydive Joburg offers two ways for you to learn how to skydive on your own and progress towards obtaining your A license.

 

For solo courses, an age limit of 16 years applies with written parental consent

 

STATIC LINE PROGRESSION
This is one of the most popular and inexpensive ways to learn to skydive by yourself. After a full day's training you generally jump on the same day (weather permitting). After proving your competence and understanding of the training to your instructor, you are ready to do your fist jump all by yourself! A qualified Jumpmaster will hook your static line to the aircraft and dispatch you from the plane. Your parachute will open immediately (no free fall time), and an instructor will be on the ground to help guide you down via radio control. You will work your way towards your first 3-second free fall after approximately 8 static line jumps. From there you will progress through approximately 32 jumps to become a licensed skydiver.

ACCELERATED FREE FALL (AFF)
Experience the thrill of free fall from your very first jump! 5-8 hours of ground school teaches you how to exit the aircraft and the position to hold during free fall. You are also taught how to release the parachute and fly the canopy yourself. Don't worry, we walk you through the necessary safety precautions to determine if a canopy has opened correctly so you are fully prepared for what happens in the air. Upon completion of the course you exit the aircraft together with two licensed instructors who help to stabilise you in free fall. Your instructors will be there until you deploy your canopy, and an instructor will be on the ground to help guide you down via radio control. The AFF course consists of 10 jumps and after being signed off by your instructor, you are well on your way to becoming a licensed skydiver.
