If there is a question or concern we haven't answered below, please CONTACT US
Q: HOW HARD IS THE LANDING?
Skydive Joburg jumps state-of-the-art square parachutes that enable the canopy pilot to enjoy soft standup or slide landings.
Q: IS SKYDIVING REALLY SAFE?
Yes, absolutely. And thanks to the latest technology and developments, skydiving equipment has improved tremendously over the years. The sport of skydiving is regulated by PASA (Parachute Association of South Africa,
www.para.co.za) to ensure that you are trained by a licensed instructor.
Q: HOW HIGH? I'M AFRAID OF HEIGHTS!
We jump from 11,000 ft above ground, which gives you on average 45 seconds of free fall. The fear of heights is rarely a problem.
Q: HOW HARD DOES THE PARACHUTE OPEN AND DOES IT GO BACK UP?
Fear not! The parachute deployment (opening) is not bone-jarring at all. It feels more like being lifted at the shoulders. The canopy is a deceleration device and does not go back up. It only appears that way when the cameraman who is in free fall continues to fall when the student slows down as the parachute opens.
Q: WHAT ABOUT MEDICAL CONDITIONS?
If concerned, please consult your physician. We require you to bring along a medical certificate from your doctor if you are not sure about your current condition/health.
